Arborio Competes on Day One of NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (March 11, 2022) – Nick Arborio represented Western New England University at the NCAA DIII Wrestling National Championships on day one of the tournament, picking up a 2-1 record on the night.
How it Happened:
Arborio opened the afternoon with a pinfall victory over Tommy Russell of Millikin University in 2:12 to move into the quarterfinal round. From there, Arborio took on Shandon Akeo of Central College (Iowa) where Arborio would drop his first match of the night via sudden victory, 8-6 to Akeo. Arobrio would move into the third-place bracket where he met Justin Lopez, of Johnson and Wales University where Arborio would come out with a win via pinfall in 4:34. Lopez and Arborio had met twice earlier this season, with both wrestlers picking up a victory over one another. With the win for Arborio, he continues to move into the third-place consolation bracket where he will take on Samuel Braswell from Averett University in the Saturday morning session. Arborio finished the night with a 2-1 record.
