Golden Bears Drop 5-4 Decision to Ramapo

Tran posts 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 triumph at No. 3 singles

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 12, 2017) – The Western New England University men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought, 5-4 decision to Ramapo College earlier today at the Van der Meer Tennis Center.

Top Performers

• Sophomore Michael Tran (West Haven, Conn.) accounted for one of Western New England's four points with his 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 triumph over Matt Talmage at No. 3 singles.
• Freshman Griffin Arnold (Meriden, Conn.) and junior Kevin Yawgel (Cromwell, Conn.) were also victorious in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively.

Match Review
• Western New England, which fell at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, tied the match at 3-3 heading into doubles play after Tran, Arnold and Yawgel all posted wins.
• Sophomore Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) and freshman Daniel O'Neill (Branford, Conn.) teamed up to earn a 9-7 result over Talmage/Kevin Ilinets at No. 2 doubles, but the Knights came out on top with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.

Western New England (2-2) wraps up its spring break trip on Wednesday at 2:30 with a match against Wisconsin Lutheran at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center.
