Endicott Defeats Western New England, 9-0

Kalmer edged in hard-fought battle at No. 1 singles 

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 30, 2017) – The Western New England University men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to Endicott College on Thursday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.

Top Performers                                                                                                          
• Freshman David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) rallied to force a third set in his No. 1 singles match against Chris Kirkpatrick, before falling by a 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 score.

Match Review
• Endicott built a commanding 3-0 lead with wins in all three doubles matches. Kirkpatrick and Justin Toler earned an 8-4 victory over Kalmer and sophomore Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) at No. 1, while Nicholas Eherts and Keaton McCleary won by the same score over Western New England freshmen Daniel O'Neill (Branford, Conn.) and Luke Surawski (Wethersfield, Conn.).
• The Gulls also swept through singles play, led by Kirkpatrick, who outlasted Kalmer at No. 1, Toler, who claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kohut at No. 2, and Charles Book, who posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Surawski at No. 3.

Western New England (3-5, 0-2 CCC) will face another tough test on Saturday as the Golden Bears are scheduled to host Nichols at noon, while Endicott (6-4, 1-0 CCC) returns home to take on Bentley on Sunday.
