Golden Bears Post 9-0 Win Over Wisconsin Lutheran

Western New England improves to 3-2 this season

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 15, 2017) – The Western New England University men's tennis team bounced back from a tough loss on Sunday with a 9-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College earlier today at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center.

Top Performers
• Freshman David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.), sophomore Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) and junior Nick Raschilla (East Longmeadow, Mass.) all posted wins in both singles and doubles play for the Golden Bears.

Doubles Review
• Western New England rolled through doubles action, opening up a 3-0 lead. Kalmer and classmate Luke Surawski (Wethersfield, Conn.) posted an 8-4 victory over Derek Sallmann/Ben Wordell at No. 1, and Kohut teamed up with freshman Daniel O'Neill (Branford, Conn.) for an 8-1 win at No. 2.

Singles Review
• Kalmer rallied to earn a 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory over Sallman at No. 1, while Kohut and Raschilla also collected wins at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively. Sophomore Michael Tran (West Haven, Conn.) was also among Western New England's singles winners, as he came out on top 6-1, 6-4 over Jon Wordell.

Western New England (3-2) will be back in action next Saturday, March 25 as the Golden Bears host Endicott College in their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.
