Golden Bears in 18th Place After First Round of Duke Nelson Invitational

Zogby leads WNE with opening round 76

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (September 15, 2018) – The Western New England University men's golf team sits in 18^th place after the opening round of the Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 320, good for 18^th in the 22-team field. New York University is leading the way with an opening round score of 291, while Sam Goldenring of Williams College is atop the individual leaderboard after shooting a three-under par 69.

Top Performers
Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) led the Golden Bears with a four-over par 76 during Saturday's action, while classmates Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) and Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) shot matching scores of 79. Zogby is tied for 39^th place and the duo of Cox and Sinacola are tied for 64^th in the 110-golfer field.

Also competing for the Golden Bears were senior Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.) and sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.). Gollmer posted an 86, good for 100^th overall, while Howard sits in a tie for 104^th after firing an 89.
