Golden Bears in 18th Place After First Round of Duke Nelson Invitational
Zogby leads WNE with opening round 76
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (September 15, 2018) – The Western New England University men's golf team sits in 18th place after the opening round of the Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
The Golden Bears posted a team score of 320, good for 18th in the 22-team field. New York University is leading the way with an opening round score of 291, while Sam Goldenring of Williams College is atop the individual leaderboard after shooting a three-under par 69.
Top Performers
Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) led the Golden Bears with a four-over par 76 during Saturday's action, while classmates Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) and Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) shot matching scores of 79. Zogby is tied for 39th place and the duo of Cox and Sinacola are tied for 64th in the 110-golfer field.
Also competing for the Golden Bears were senior Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.) and sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.). Gollmer posted an 86, good for 100th overall, while Howard sits in a tie for 104th after firing an 89.
