Zogby & Crean Receive Weekly Awards from CCC
Zogby named Golfer of the Week, Crean collects Rookie of the Week honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 9, 2018) – Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) and freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) of the Western New England University men's golf team have both received weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Zogby and Crean led the Golden Bears to a third place finish at the Elms College Blazer Invitational over the weekend at Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.
Zogby was the individual runner-up with a 36-hole score of 144, just one stroke off the pace set by medalist Gavin Dugas of Husson. He led the 87-player field after opening the tournament with a two-under par 70 during round one action on Saturday, before carding a two-over 74 on Sunday.
Crean, the medalist at the CCC Fall Qualifier three weeks ago, tied for eighth place at the Blazer Invitational over the weekend with a two-day score of 152. Crean shot a three-over par 75 during round one and followed that up with a five-over 77 in round two.
Western New England wraps up its fall schedule the weekend of October 20-22 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship.
