Western New England Places Third at Blazer Invitational

Zogby posts runner-up finish with 36-hole score of 144

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (October 7, 2018) – The Western New England University men's golf team finished in third place at Elms College's Blazer Invitational following round two action on Sunday at Ledges Golf Club.

The Golden Bears, who entered round two just one stroke behind first place Husson, followed up their opening round 300 with a 320 on Sunday. Western New England's two-day total of 620 was good for third place behind Husson (608) and Amherst (616). Westfield State (636) and Springfield (638) rounded out the top five. Gavin Dugas of Husson earned medalist honors after posting a 36-hole score of 143 (72+71) to top the 87-player field.

Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) finished just one stroke behind Dugas on his way to a runner-up effort. Zogby led the field with an opening round 70, before firing a 74 today.

Freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) also registered a top-ten showing as he tied for eighth place with a combined score of 152 (75+77).

Sophomore Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) posted a score of 158 (76+82) and tied for 14th place, while sophomores Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.) placed 32nd and 41st, respectively.
