Zogby Leads Strong Western New England Performance at Blazer Invitational

Golden Bears in 2nd place, Zogby leads 86-player field after round one

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (October 6, 2018) – Led by sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.), the Western New England University men's golf team is in second place following the opening round of the Blazer Invitational on Saturday at Ledges Golf Club.

Zogby sits atop the 86-player field after carding a two-under par 70 during opening round action. The sophomore's five birdies were tied for the most of all players.

With a team score of 300, the Golden Bears are just one stroke off the pace set by first place Husson (299). Amherst (305), Westfield State (312), Elms (313) & Springfield (313) round out the top five in the 17-team field.

Freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.), who was the medalist at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Fall Qualifier on September 19, shot a three-over par 75 and is tied for eighth place. 

Sophomore Cameron Cox's (Bowdoinham, Maine) four-over 76 has him tied for tenth, while sophomores Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.) are tied for 18th place after posting opening round scores of 79.
