Golden Bears Finish 10th at Wildcats Spring Invitational

Howard paces Western New England, placing 13th in 101-golfer field

CRANSTON, R.I. (April 14, 2019) – The Western New England University men's golf team finished tenth in the 20-team field at the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats Spring Invitational following round two action on Sunday at Cranston Country Club.

The Golden Bears, who posted a score of 318 during round one, improved by four strokes in round two (312) and finished with a two-day total of 630. Amherst College captured the team title with a score of 596, while Providence College (600) and JWU (605) rounded out the top three.

Western New England's top performer was sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.), who finished in a five-way tie for 13th place in the 101-golfer field. Howard posted a two-over par 74 today after carding a 78 yesterday, good for a 36-hole total of 152.

Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) moved up from 46th into a tie for 28th place with a combined score of 155, as he turned in scores of 80 and 75 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) and sophomore Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) tied for 59th place after finishing with matching totals of 163. Crean shot an 85 today to follow up Saturday's 78, while Cox did the opposite, registering scores of 78 and 85, respectively.

Senior Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.) placed 82nd with scores of 82 and 89 (171).
