Zogby Named CCC Golfer of the Year, Cox Earns All-CCC 2nd Team Accolades

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 9, 2019) – Sophomores Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) of the Western New England University golf team were both recognized when the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its major award winners and All-CCC selections on Thursday.

Zogby was named the CCC Golfer of the Year in addition to earning a spot on the All-CCC first team, while Cox collected All-CCC second team accolades.

Zogby followed up his 2017-18 Rookie of the Year campaign with a strong sophomore season, posting a team-best 75.0 stroke average. The New Hartford, N.Y. native finished in the top-five of six tournaments, with two of those performances coming in CCC events. He placed third overall at the CCC Fall Qualifier (75), before capturing medalist honors at the CCC Championship with a 36-hole score of 146 (76+70).

Zogby also posted runner-up finishes at the Elms College Invitational, the Rhode Island College Anchormen Invitational, and the UMass Dartmouth Lafrance Hospitality Invitational. He turned in an impressive showing at the NEIGA Championship in the Golden Bears' fall finale, tying for fifth place in the 113-golfer field with a two-day score of 152 (75+77). Zogby was a three-time CCC Golfer of the Week.

Cox earns All-CCC honors for the first time after posting a 79.6 stroke average, the second lowest on the team. He finished inside the top-10 twice during the spring semester, including a fourth-place effort at the CCC Championship. Cox turned in his lowest score (74) during the second round of the CCC Championship.
