Golden Bears in 11th Place Following Opening Round of Wildcats Spring Invitational

Crean & Howard pace WNE with scores of 78

CRANSTON, R.I. (April 13, 2019) – The Western New England University men's golf team is tied for 11th place in the 20-team field following the opening round of the Wildcats Spring Invitational, hosted by Johnson & Wales University at Cranston Country Club.

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 318 (+34) during Saturday's action, 21 strokes off the pace set by Amherst College, which is leading the field with a score of 297. Johnson & Wales and Providence College are tied for second place (301), while Husson (307) and Springfield College (310) round out the top five.

Sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.) and freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) led the way for the Golden Bears, posting matching scores of 78 (+6), which has them in a tie for 31st place in the 100-golfer field.

Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) carded an 80, good for a tie for 46th place, while senior Kevin Gollmer's (Flourtown, Pa.) 82 placed him in a tie for 64th.

Also competing for the Golden Bears was sophomore Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine), who is tied for 76th after turning in a score of 85.
