Zogby Places Second Overall at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

Golden Bears finish in tie for 8th place

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. (April 20, 2019) – The Western New England University men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the UMass Dartmouth Lafrance Hospitality Invitational following round two action on Saturday at Allendale Country Club.

The Golden Bears, who sat in seventh place in the 15-team field with a score of 323 after Friday's opening round, improved by three strokes (320) on Saturday but dropped to eighth place with a two-day total of 643. UMass Dartmouth (623) captured the team title, while Husson (628), Roger Williams (633), Springfield (633) and Endicott (635) rounded out the top five. Husson's Gavin Dugas earned medalist honors with a 36-hole score 147.

Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) posted a runner-up effort to lead the way for the Golden Bears, finishing three strokes behind Dugas with a combined score of 150. Zogby followed up Friday's 76 with a two-over par 74 in round two.

Sophomore Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) moved up from a tie for 27th after round one into a tie for 14th place at the conclusion of the tournament. Cox posted scores of 81 and 77, respectively, finishing with a total of 158.

Sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.) placed 25th with a 36-hole score of 161 (80+81), while classmate Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished 61st after recording scores of  86 and 88 (174).

Also competing for Western New England was senior Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.), who placed 68th (178).
