Golden Bears Capture CCC Fall Qualifier by Four Strokes

Western New England will host CCC Championship next spring

GRAFTON, Mass. (September 19, 2018) – The Western New England University men's golf team captured the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Fall Qualifier by four strokes on Wednesday at the Highlands Golf & Country Club.

Western New England's win guarantees the Golden Bears hosting rights for the four-team CCC Championship next spring. The winner of that tournament earns the CCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Western New England posted a team score of 302 to top the seven-team field. Nichols (306), Endicott (309) and Roger Williams (322) also qualified for the CCC Championship, while Wentworth (323), the University of New England (335) and Gordon (381) rounded out the final three spots.

Freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) led the way for the Golden Bears, earning medalist honors with a one-over par score of 73. Crean registered 11 pars and three birdies on his way to first place in the 34-player field.

Sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) finished third and carded a 75, while classmate Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) tied for fourth place with a score of 76. 

Sophomore Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) carded a six-over 78, good for a tie for 11th place, and senior Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.) tied for 30th with a score of 90.
