Zogby & Cox Lead Golden Bears to Fourth Place Finish at Rhode Island College Invitational

Zogby places second overall in 73-golfer field, Cox tied for 7th

WARWICK, R.I. (April 6, 2019) – Sophomores Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) both finished inside the top-10 in the 73-player field as the Western New England University golf team placed fourth at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational following round two action on Saturday at Valley Country Club.

Western New England posted a second round team score of 315, three strokes better than yesterday's 318, and climbed from fifth place after Saturday's action to fourth at the conclusion of the tournament.

Johnson & Wales topped the 14-team field with a two-round score of 627, while Endicott and Tufts (631) edged the Golden Bears (633) by two strokes and finished tied for second. Rhode Island College's Michael Caparco earned medalist honors with a combined score of 148.

Zogby finished three strokes behind Caparco at 151 after shooting a four-over par 76 to follow up Saturday's opening-round 75. Cox posted a second round 77 and moved up from a tie for 18th place following Saturday into a tie for seventh at the end of play today, finishing with a total score of 156.

Sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.) turned in scores of 78 and 82 on his way to 19th place with a total of 160, while freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) and sophomore Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished 39th and 52nd, respectively.
