Greer Selected as First Offensive Player of the Week in 2022 Spring Season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 28, 2022) – The Commonwealth Coast Conference has announced their initial athletes of the week for the spring season with Western New England's Matt Greer being named as the first Offensive Player of the Week for the 2022 season. 

Greer, a native of South Windsor, Connecticut, competed in all three games for the Golden Bears this week, coming up victorious in all three competitions at Clark University, vs. Keene State, and a road victory at Coast Guard on Sunday afternoon. Greer opened up the 2022 campaign by scoring two goals and adding six assists in an 18-8 win over the Clark Cougars. The Golden Bears opened their 2022 home schedule by taking down Keene State where Greer shined again, scoring twice more, and adding an assist for three additional points. Greer would close out the weekend by scoring a goal and picking up two assists at Coast Guard in a 14-7 Golden Bears victory. 

On the season through three games, Greer has scored five times and added nine assists, good for 14 points on the season, leading all Golden Bear scorers. Greer has scooped nine ground balls, while causing two turnovers and taking ten shots on goal. In his five-year career with Western New England, Greer has scored 47 goals and collected 74 assists, good for 121 career points. 

Western New England takes the week off of competition before returning to the field on Wednesday, March 9 at 4:30 pm when they travel to Bates College.
