Klepacki To Coach at USILA All-Star Game
LOUISVILLE, KY. (May 20, 2022) – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced today that Western New England men's lacrosse head coach and staff will coach the 2022 USILA Senior All-Star Game on Friday, May 27.
John Klepacki and staff will lead the North team at 5:00 pm from Providence College, in Providence, R.I. against the South team, which will be headed by John Carroll University men's lacrosse head coach Joe Rautenstrauch and staff.
The teams will consist of players that have been nominated for USILA All-American honors in order to participate in the Senior All-Star Game.
Klepacki led the Golden Bears to the third round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament this season, becoming the first team in the Commonwealth Coast Conference to reach the third round of the tournament since Klepacki led the 2013 Western New England squad all the way to the quarterfinal round. In his 21st season at the helm of the Golden Bears, Klepacki directed WNE to a 15-6 record, including a perfect 8-0 in CCC play. Western New England went on to defeat Nichols College and Endicott College in the CCC semifinals and finals to punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament this season. The Golden Bears would square off with the nation's 11th ranked men's lacrosse team in Division III, the University of Lynchburg. Western New England, under the guidance of an experienced head coach, would score ten second half goals, on their way to an upset victory over the Lynchburg Hornets.
Klepacki was named CCC Coach of the Year, while also guiding the Golden Bears to four of the five major awards given out by the conference office. WNE saw both an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, a Short Stick Specialist of the Year, as well as a CCC Scholar Athlete of the Year, all under the watch of Klepacki.
Western New England's men's lacrosse coach will coach the USILA North all-star team for the third time in his historic career, having coached the team in 2010 and 2017.
The Division I / Division II Game will be held following in the Division III Game on Friday, May 27 at 7:30 pm. The North Team will be coach by St. Anselm College Head Coach Mike Sciamanna and staff while the South Team will be represented by Virginia Military Institute's James Purpura and staff.
