Newall Claims CCC Offensive Player of the Week Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 28, 2022) – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) office announced their slew of weekly awards on Monday, seeing Jared Newall announced as the Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. 

Newall, a native of Stratford, Connecticut, led WNE men's lacrosse this week with 11 goals, on their way to a 1-1 record. Newall scored six goals and picked up two assists in a 23-16 loss to No. 19 Bowdoin College, scoring one goal while a man up. Newall took 13 shots, with nine finding the target in the loss, leading his squad. 

Western New England picked up their first conference win of the season against the University of New England where again Newall shined, collecting a team best five goals in a 23-7 victory over the Nor'easters. Newall took six shots in the contest, all on goal. 

On the season, the graduate student has recorded a team best 29 goals while also recording four assists, good for 44 points on the season. Nine of Newall's 29 goals have come while a man up. Newall has registered three ground balls and one caused turnover this season while taking a team high 68 shots, 48 on goal. 

The Golden Bears return to action on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 pm when they host Amherst College in non-conference action.
