Two Men’s Lacrosse Alum Named to Western Massachusetts Lacrosse Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 2, 2022) – Two alum from the Western New England University men's lacrosse team were named to the 2022 Class of the Western Massachusetts Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Alum Scott Aitken '90 and Jared Pabis '09 will be honored on Saturday, September 3 at 10:30 AM at the PLL Quarter Final Games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Scott Aitken was a four-year performer for the Golden Bears and a member of the 1987 squad that captured the program first Pilgrim League Tournament title. An attack player, he was a three-time All-Pilgrim League selection and First Team honoree his junior and senior seasons. Scott was a two-year captain who played in the 1989 New England Senior East-West All-Star Game. At the time of his graduation, Aitken held school records for points (193) and goals (140) and shared the school mark for assists (53). He also served as an assistant coach in 1990. Aitken is a member of the Western New England Downes Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2007. 

A native of Wilbraham, Mass., Jared Pabis graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in general business after a distinguished four-year career as one of the nation's premier defensemen. The Golden Bears compiled a remarkable 63-12 record (84.0 winning percentage) with Pabis in the lineup and captured three conference titles (one in the Pilgrim League and two in the Commonwealth Coast Conference).

Western New England also advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship three times from 2007-09 and set school record for victories (17) in both 2007 and 2009.
As a senior, Pabis was selected the Western New England Male Athlete-of-the-Year named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America Team for a school-record three times. He played in the USILA Division III Senior North-South All-Star Game. In addition, Pabis was voted to the All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III First Team for the third time and played in the organization's Senior East-West All-Star contest. Pabis also was CCC Defensive Player-of-the-Year and was a repeat selection on the All-CCC First Team selection. As a sophomore, Pabis also made the All-Pilgrim League First Team. He was the Pilgrim League Rookie-of-the-Year in 2006. Pabis is a member of the Western New England Downes Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2020. 

Also being inducted are Joe Doyle (Marist University '93) and Robert Young.
