Five Golden Bears Receive All-American Status

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 26, 2022) – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association delivered their list of All-Americans from the 2022 season, landing five from the Western New England men's lacrosse team on the list. 

Graduate Student Mitch Weiss (Westfield, Mass.) picked up third team All-American honors after anchoring the Golden Bears to a third-round game in the NCAA Tournament this season. The Golden Bears, under the impressive defense, led by Weiss, helped the Golden Bears capture a CCC title, which was then followed up by an upset win over No. 11 University of Lynchburg in the 2022 NCAA men's lacrosse championships second round. The graduate in mechanical engineering played in 78 games for Western New England over his career, making starts in every game. Weiss came around to score five goals and added five assists, good for ten points in his career. Weiss's 224 ground balls sit fourth all-time amongst alumni of WNE lacrosse. Weiss caused 77 turnovers in his career, while taking 13 shots towards goal. Weiss picks up his second All-American honor after receiving honorable mention following the 2019 season. 

Single season program record holder for points, Matt Greer (South Windsor, Conn.), picks up his second All-American award after collecting 94 points during the season for WNE, a program high. Greer also collected honorable mention in 2019, which he collects again in 2022. Greer's standout season included 37 goals and 57 assists, while picking up a game best eight points on three separate occasions. The graduate student scored 201 points over his career with the Golden Bears, sitting him in fifth place of the all-time leading scorers in Western New England men's lacrosse's history. Competing in 76 games, Greer scored 79 goals and added 122 assists in his career. The graduate with a degree in marketing scooped 109 ground balls while causing 12 turnovers in his career. Greer took 251 shots in 76 games, putting 164 on goal. 

Senior Conor Tracy (Walpole, Mass.) picks up his first career All-American award after scoring 39 goals and collecting 17 assists for a career best 56 points during the 2022 season. Tracy scooped a total of 15 ground balls and took 127 shots this season, putting 77 on goal. In his career, Tracy has played in 76 games, making 3 starts, scoring 81 goals, picking up 36 assists, good for 117 points. His 261 shots rank third all-time in program history. 

Graduate student Kevin Faustich (Seymour, Conn.) picks up his second All-American status after having a career year on the field. Faustich helped guide the Golden Bears defense this season while also contributing on the offensive end, coming away with a career best three goals and two assists, good for five points. Faustich led Western New England in caused turnovers, coming away with 25 this season, while scooping 62 ground balls, which ranked third on WNE this season. Over his 72 games played, Faustich made 61 starts, scoring seven goal and collecting five assists, good for 12 points. Faustich scooped 213 ground balls, while causing 98 turnovers over his five-year career, graduating with a master's degree in sports leadership and coaching. 

Senior Murphy Hartmann (Anthem, Ariz.) was honored for the first time as an All-American, picking up honorable mention after putting up a career best performance in 2022 for Western New England. Hartmann competed in all 21 games during the season, picking up 13 starts. Hartmann scored five times with the short stick while also picking up three assists, good for eight points overall. The communication media production and journalism graduate scooped a career high 29 ground balls while also causing a career best nine turnovers for WNE. Hartmann has scored 12 goals and dished nine assists, good for 21 points in his four-year career. He has collected 81 ground balls and caused 27 total turnovers with WNE. 

Western New England men's lacrosse has put 32 players on the All-American list in their program's history, with 16 players being at least two-time All-Americans. The Golden Bears wrapped up their 2022 season in the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse championships third round game, completing the season with a 15-6 record.
