Golden Bears Drop Brandeis Invitational Finale to John Carroll, 3-0

Golden Bears outshoot Blue Streaks 20-19, but fail to score for second straight game

WALTHAM, Mass. (September 4, 2016) –
The Western New England University men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback at the hands of John Carroll University this afternoon in the team's second game of the Brandeis Invitational at Gordon Field.

Top Performers
Juniors Troy Remillard (Palmer, Mass.) and Logan Pingree (Middletown, Conn.) led the Western New England offense, combining for 14 shots (seven shots on goal).

Junior forward Dalton Browsky's (Aurora, Ohio) first half goal proved to be enough for the Blue Streaks, who recorded their first shutout of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Liam McIntosh (Mentor, Ohio) stopped all nine of the shots that he faced.

Game Review
John Carroll claimed a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute, when senior midfielder Tim Delaney (Akron, Oh.) dribbled into the left side of the box and sent a cross towards Browsky, who one-timed a shot past Western New England senior goalkeeper Kevin Strobel (Rockland, Mass.).
Junior Jake Lombardo (Mentor, Oh.) and senior Justin Miller (Brunswick, Ohio) added second half goals for the Blue Streaks in the 62nd and 79th minutes, respectively.

Notes
Western New England held slight edges over John Carroll in both shots (20-19) and corner kicks (6-5), but the Blue Streaks owned a 10-4 advantage in shots on target.

Western New England (0-2) will look to bounce back on Wednesday at Wheaton (Mass.), while John Carroll (1-1) returns to action next Friday against Wheaton (Ill.) at the Bob Baptista Invitational.
