Pingree’s Second Half Goal Lifts Western New England to 1-0 Victory at Roger Williams

Strobel records three-save shutout

BRISTOL, R.I. (October 8, 2016) – Junior midfielder Logan Pingree's (Middletown, Conn.) second half goal proved to be the difference as the Western New England University men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Roger Williams University this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Bayside Field.

Top Performers
• Pingree provided Western New England with all of the offense it would need, scoring the eventual game-winner in the 61st minute.
• Senior goalkeeper Kevin Strobel (Rockland, Mass.) picked up his third shutout of the season, making three saves in the process.

Match Review
• Junior forward Troy Remillard (Palmer, Mass.) nearly got the Golden Bears on the board in the 31st minute with a header attempt, but Roger Williams freshman goalkeeper Edmund Geschickter (Brookline, Mass.) made a diving stop to keep the game scoreless.
• The game remained deadlocked at 0-0 into the second half, until Pingree came through with his seventh goal of the season at the 60:10 mark. The junior midfielder intercepted a Roger Williams pass ten yards outside the penalty area, before hooking a shot into the right side of the net.
• Junior forward Tyler Kuchenbecker (Wellesley, Mass.) had a pair of solid scoring chances for the Hawks late in the contest, including a header in the 87th minute, but his attempt went high and wide.

Notes
• Pingree has now recorded at least one point in four consecutive games. He is tied with Remillard for the team lead with 18 points (seven goals, four assists).
• Western New England outshot Roger Williams by a 13-10 margin, but the Hawks held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
