Remillard Highlights Four All-CCC Selections for Western New England

Pingree, Strobel and Bolger also recognized

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 28, 2016) – Four members of the Western New England University men's soccer team were recognized when the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its major award winners and All-CCC selections this afternoon.

Junior forward Troy Remillard (Palmer, Mass.) highlighted the list of honorees with his selection to the All-CCC first team, while senior goalkeeper Kevin Strobel (Rockland, Mass.) and junior midfielder Logan Pingree (Middletown, Conn.) were named to the second team and senior defender Brandon Bolger (Saratoga, N.Y.) earned a spot on the third team.

Remillard was again one of the top offensive players in the conference this fall, starting all 17 of the matches that he appeared in and recording 25 points (3rd in CCC) on 11 goals (2nd) and three assists. The junior registered his first career hat trick in a 4-3 win over Keene State on September 28, and two games later totaled four points (one goal, two assists) in a 4-2 win over Elms.

A two-time All-CCC first team selection, Remillard was named CCC Offensive Player of the Week on October 3. He has started 41 of the 58 games he has appeared in over the last three seasons, compiling 55 points on 25 goals and five assists.

Pingree earns his first career All-Conference nod with his selection to the second team after starting all 18 of Western New England's matches and recording 20 points (2nd on the team) with eight goals and four assists. He posted a season-best four-match point streak from September 28-October 8, a stretch that included a five-point effort (two goals, one assist) in the Golden Bears' win over Elms. Pingree tallied a team-leading three game-winning goals this fall, which was tied for the CCC lead during the regular season.

He also earned CCC Offensive Player of the Week honors, with the recognition coming on October 11 after he led Western New England to a pair of wins with seven points. In 54 career matches and 35 starts, Pingree has recorded 37 points on 14 goals and nine assists.

Joining Pingree on the All-CCC second team is Strobel, who earned All-CCC Honorable Mention accolades as a sophomore in 2014 before landing on the third team as a junior last fall. The senior captain started all 18 matches in goal this season, posting a 1.61 goals against average and a .739 save percentage with five shutouts (3rd in CCC). Three of his clean sheets have come over Western New England's last six matches, including a ten-save performance last Saturday in the Golden Bears' 1-0 win at Salve Regina.

In 60 career games (59 starts), Strobel owns a 1.42 goals against average and a .783 save percentage with 14 shutouts.

Rounding out Western New England's four All-Conference honorees is Bolger, who earned a spot on the third team after starting 15 of the 16 matches that he played and serving as the defensive anchor for the Golden Bears. The senior captain also contributed offensively, chipping in with five points on one goal and three assists.

He has appeared in 76 matches over the last four years, making 41 starts, and recording 14 points with four goals and six assists.

Fourth-seeded Western New England (9-9, 6-3 CCC) will open the CCC Tournament on Saturday at noon with a quarterfinal round matchup against fifth-seeded Roger Williams (6-11-2, 4-3-2 CCC) at Suprenant Field.
