Western New England Earns Ninth NCAA Tournament Bid in Program History

Golden Bears will take on Brandeis in the first round on Saturday in Wellesley, Mass.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 7, 2016) – 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer champion Western New England University will be making its return to the national stage on Saturday, as the Golden Bears are set to take on Brandeis University in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on the campus of Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

Western New England (11-9-1), which earned the fourth seed in the CCC Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 6-3 record in conference play, defeated Roger Williams in the quarterfinals at home before posting road victories at Endicott and Wentworth in the semifinals and championship, respectively. The Golden Bears will be making their ninth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2013.

Brandeis (10-5-3) earned its way into the field of 62 via one of the 20 available at-large bids, and the Judges will be making their fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
